Packing List Bali with kids

Bali Packing List with Kids: What to Bring for Your Family Trip (2025)

Pack light clothes, swimwear, a travel stroller and baby carrier, mosquito repellent, basic medicines, floaties, swim diapers, and snacks. Add family essentials like headphones, coloring books, and a tablet for the kids. This list covers everything you need for a stress-free Bali trip with children.

What should you pack for Bali with kids?

We’ve packed for Bali with a baby, a toddler, and now with our 3- and 4-year-old. Every stage has its own must-haves but the basics stay the same. Bali is hot and humid, so breathable clothes and swimwear are essential. A stroller or carrier will save your back when little legs get tired. Don’t forget mosquito spray, floaties, or swim rings, and swim diapers for the pool. A small pouch with basic medicines gives peace of mind since it is not always easy to find what you need on short notice.

For entertainment, coloring books, headphones, and the holy grail for parents, the iPad, keep kids happy on flights and during downtime. Add some camera gear to capture it all and you are good to go. This same list works perfectly if you are adding Lombok to your trip.

Free Downloadable Bali & Lombok Packing List for Families

Packing for Bali and Lombok with kids is always a bit of a circus. Which shoes survive a jungle trek? Will a UV shirt actually protect them from jellyfish? How do we carry two kids, two backpacks, a stroller, a suitcase, and still get on the boat without collapsing?

Over the years, we’ve learned exactly what’s essential for a family trip to Indonesia. Our main rule: we have to be able to carry everything ourselves, including our kids. That means one parent with a large backpack on the back, a smaller backpack on the front, a child in the stroller; the other parent with a child in a carrier, pushing a suitcase with a backpack on top… a little heavy, a lot chaotic, but it works, and keeps us totally independent.

We’ve packed and repacked this list for Bali and Lombok so many times, we now know exactly what we actually need, and what we can safely leave at home. To make life easier, we’ve turned it into a printable Bali & Lombok Family Packing Checklist. Grab it, check off your essentials, and focus on the fun part: the adventure!

Everything on this list has been tested by us in Bali and later again in Lombok, so you can skip the trial and error and enjoy your family adventure from day one.

1. Sleep & Comfort Essentials for Babies, Toddlers & Kids – Bali Packing List

What baby sleep essentials should be on your Bali & Lombok packing list?
For a comfortable trip to Bali or Lombok with your baby, pack lightweight sleep gear suited to the tropical climate: a thin sleep sack, breathable muslin swaddles, a baby blanket for flights, extra pacifiers, a comfort toy, and a small nightlight. These essentials make it easier for your little one to sleep well in the heat and adjust to unfamiliar hotel or villa rooms.

  • Baby sleep sack (2x: 1 thin, 1 with detachable sleeves) – Choose breathable cotton for warm nights, plus one slightly thicker option for air-conditioned rooms; check out this 👉 Aden sleep sack
  • Travel crib sheets – Hotels rarely provide fitted baby sheets, so bring your own for hygiene and comfort.
  • Lightweight muslin cloth or swaddle – Multipurpose: for naps, as a sun cover, or light blanket. Check here
  • Baby blanket for airplane & naps – A cozy extra layer for chilly flights or evening strolls.
  • Pacifier + extra spares – Always pack backups; they get lost easily during travel.
  • Comfort toy / cuddle cloth – Familiar scents and textures help your baby settle in new environments.
  • Nightlight or small sleep lamp – Handy for night feeds and to avoid bright hotel lighting. Check out this 👉 nightlight
  • Bedtime storybook – compact book for bedtime, helps kids wind down and get ready for sleep.

2. Feeding & Mealtime Essentials for Babies, Toddlers & Kids – Bali Packing List

Keeping mealtimes smooth with a baby or toddler in Bali (and Lombok) is all about having the right gear. Pack bottles, sippy cups, bibs, snack boxes, and easy-to-use utensils to make feeding simple, stress-free, and flexible wherever you go.

  • Baby bottles (2x) – for milk or formula on the go
  • Sippy cup / drinking bottle – for water or juice during outings; we recommend 👉 Munchkin Sippy Cup
  • Bibs (multiple) – keep clothes clean during meals
  • Small bowl + baby spoons – perfect for purees or soft foods; check out this 👉 travel set
  • Snack box / food container – ideal for snacks on the beach or in the car; check out this 👉 GoBe Snackbox
  • Formula or milk powder – available locally, but we always bring our own brand for peace of mind
  • Formula dispenser / storage tower – keeps pre-measured portions organized for travel; we recommend this 👉 Munchkin Dispenser
  • Baby food (fruit, oats, easy dinner packs) – locally available but limited, so we bring some extra
  • Wet wipes & face wipes – available in most places, but we always pack enough for the first days and travel; we always use 👉 Pampers (bulk pack)

3. Health & Safety Kit for Babies, Toddlers & Kids – Bali Packing List

Keep your little ones safe and healthy while exploring Bali, Lombok or Indonesia. Pack essentials like fever medicine, first aid supplies, vitamins, and baby-safe sunscreen to handle minor bumps, teething, and everyday health needs on your trip.

  • Fever & pain relief (paracetamol, ibuprofen, Nurofen) – for fevers, aches, or minor pains; always check the correct dose for your child’s age
  • Thermometer – essential to monitor temperatures accurately; we use this 👉 Braun Thermometer
  • Nasal spray – for stuffy noses or travel congestion
  • Vitamins & supplements – to maintain routine nutrition while traveling
  • First aid cream for bumps & stings – quick relief for minor cuts or mosquito bites
  • Plasters / band-aids & antiseptic – essential for little scratches and scrapes
  • Baby toothbrush & toothpaste – to keep teeth clean during your trip
  • Nail clipper / scissors for tiny nails – prevent scratching and keep nails tidy
  • SOS ID bands for toddlers – peace of mind in crowded places or busy beaches
  • Sunscreen (baby & kids safe) – limited availability locally, so bring your trusted brand; we always use 👉 Nivea sunscreen
  • After sun lotion – to soothe skin after long sun exposure
  • Mosquito repellent (DEET) – Protects little ones from bites in tropical climates. Choose the correct DEET % according to your kids’ age

4. Toiletries & Care Essentials for Babies, Toddlers & Kids – Bali Packing List

For a stress-free Bali or Lombok trip with little ones, pack essential toiletries and baby care items. Diapers, swim diapers, wipes, gentle baby wash, lotion, towels, and grooming tools make travel smoother for babies, toddlers, and kids, especially in tropical climates where comfort and hygiene are key.

  • Diapers & swim diapers – daily use and beach/pool days. We always buy a bulk pack pampers 👉 diapers and 👉 swim diapers or 👉 reusable ones
  • Changing mat / liners – portable mats for hygienic diaper changes anywhere; check out 👉 this one
  • Baby wash / shampoo – gentle and travel-size; bring your own brand
  • Baby lotion / cream – keeps skin soft after sun and water
  • Baby wipes (bulk pack) – handy for diaper changes and travel; we always use 👉 pampers
  • Washcloths / small towels – multipurpose for hands, face, and quick drying
  • Baby hairbrush / comb – may be difficult to find in Bali
  • Baby nail care set – clipper or scissors for safe nail trimming
  • Hooded towel / bath towel – We always pack 👉 poncho towels for the kids, perfect for the pool or beach.

5. Clothing & Sun Protection for Babies, Toddlers & Kids – Bali Packing List

Packing the right clothing and beach gear makes a tropical family trip much more comfortable. Lightweight, quick-dry items are key, and it’s always good to have a few extras for unpredictable weather or messy days.

  • Bodysuits / onesies – Lightweight cotton bodysuits or onesies for everyday comfort. Bring a few extra for accidents
  • UV suit, swimsuit, or swim shorts – Protects your child from sun exposure; check out 👉 this one
  • UV shirt / rash guard – Additional sun protection for beach and pool time; always check for 👉 UPF 50+
  • Sun hats & caps – Wide-brimmed hats or caps to protect little faces. Sterntaler sun hats are soft and breathable
  • Baby/toddler sunglasses – Protect their eyes from strong sunlight
  • Extra socks & shoes – Bring comfortable shoes or sandals, plus extra socks for cooler evenings or flights
  • Pajamas / sleepwear – Lightweight pajamas or night suits for warm nights
  • Extra change of clothes – Always pack a spare outfit for flights or day trips

6. Travel Gear & Baby Equipment – Bali Packing List

Traveling Bali or Lombok with kids? Bring only practical baby gear. A lightweight stroller works for malls but less for streets and beaches, a baby carrier is usually easier. Confirm with hotels whether they offer a baby crib, or bring your own travel crib and sheets. A baby monitor, inflatable float, or small foldable pool can make your stay much more comfortable.

  • Lightweight stroller / travel buggy – Handy for airports and malls, but less useful on Bali’s narrow streets; we are big fans of the 👉 Cybex Libelle – we have two of these!
  • Ergonomic baby carrier – Much easier for day trips and beach walks. We absolutely love our 👉 Tula carrier – we’ve used it everywhere from the jungle and waterfalls to airports, and it has never let us down.
  • Travel crib + fitted sheets – Some hotels only provide basic cots. A compact travel crib ensures safe sleep anywhere. We always use the 👉 Deryan Travel Cot. It’s also perfect for letting the kids nap on the beach.
  • Baby monitor with charger – Useful if you have a terrace or separate sleeping area. We always use 👉 Alecto baby monitors. They have great battery life and long range, perfect if the kids are napping while you relax by the pool.
  • Small foldable baby pool – Perfect for shaded play near your villa when the sun is strong; check out 👉 this pool

7. Entertainment & Toys for Babies, Toddlers & Kids – Bali Packing List

Long flights and villa downtime are much easier when you pack the right toys. Keep it light and focus on compact items that entertain in different situations – from the airplane to the beach. Think soft toys for comfort, creative play for older kids, and a few surprises to keep travel exciting.

  • Interactive board books – Compact, durable, and great for quiet moments. We like the ones with flaps or textures to keep toddlers engaged.
  • Small travel toys – Mini cars, animals, or rattles that don’t take much space but keep little hands busy.
  • Coloring book & stickers – Easy entertainment for restaurants, flights, and rainy afternoons. Stickers are always a hit with toddlers.
  • Toddler headphones – Protect their ears while watching shows or listening to music. We always use these 👉 JBL kids headphones for our children; long battery life, wireless, and safe sound so the volume never gets too loud.
  • Tablet with downloaded shows – A lifesaver on long flights or during delays. Preload series and games since Wi-Fi is unreliable; we have 👉 iPads
  • Airplane toy bag / surprise gifts – Wrap small new toys (like a puzzle, fidget, or figurine) and hand them out during the flight for extra excitement.

8. Beach & Pool Essentials for Babies, Toddlers & Kids – Bali Packing List

Bali means lots of pool time and beach days, so sun protection and safe swim gear are a must. Focus on UV-protective clothing, practical water toys, and a few items that make drying off and changing quick and easy.

  • Swim ring, floaties, or puddle jumper – Safe, age-appropriate swim aids for pool and ocean play.
  • Inflatable baby pool – Perfect for villas or beaches without toddler-friendly shallow water; check out 👉 this one
  • Sand toys & buckets – Small, 👉 foldable sets to keep kids entertained at the beach.
  • Quick-dry towels – Lightweight towels that dry fast and pack easily; check out these 👉 quick-dry towels
  • Dry bag – To keep important items dry during wild boat rides or trips to waterfalls. We use a small dry bag like 👉 this one.
  • Soft fabric water shoes – Ideal for hot sand and slippery pool areas. We’re big fans of 👉 Slipstop water shoes, but an alternative is 👉 Bigib
  • Sturdy water shoes with a firm sole – Perfect for beaches with sharp coral (hello Gilis!) or waterfall hikes. Check out 👉 these options
  • Pop-up beach tent or UV shelter (optional) – Creates instant shade and a safe nap spot.

9. Family Extras & Miscellaneous – Bali Packing List

Besides baby and kids’ gear, there are a few family extras that make traveling in Bali much smoother. These are the often-forgotten items parents are most grateful to have on hand.

  • Sunglasses for the whole family – The Bali sun is strong year-round.
  • Basic toiletries & hair products – Bring your own favorites; not everything is easy to find in Bali.
  • Power bank & universal charger – Keep phones, tablets, and cameras charged on long days out; check out 👉 this one
  • Universal travel adapter – Indonesia uses plug type C and F, but it’s best to bring a universal travel adapter you can use worldwide, like 👉 this one
  • Travel documents & insurance info – Store passports, insurance, and medical contacts in one safe folder.
  • Small gifts or snacks for kids – Surprises for flights or long transfers keep little ones happy.
  • Reusable shopping bag – Useful for groceries, markets, or carrying beach gear.
  • Inflatable travel bed for plane – inflatable bed you can place between seats so your child can stretch out during the flight; check out this 👉 inflatable travel bed
  • Camera gear for parents – a good 👉 digital camera for everyday photos and landscapes, an 👉 action camera for waterfalls and underwater fun, and a 👉 drone for those great Bali and Lombok views.
  • Check our 👉 Before You Go guide – for all the forms and practical preparations you need to complete before traveling.

Final Thoughts: Bali & Lombok Packing List for Families

📥 Want this packing list as a handy checklist? Download our freebie and make your next family trip stress-free!

We always use this list ourselves when traveling with our kids, but of course, you’ll pack less as your children grow. What you actually need also depends on your child’s personality, age, and routines. We’ve tried to include as much as possible, but ultimately, decide what’s essential for your family.

Important: Don’t overpack, especially if you’ll be transferring between ferries, boats, or other transport. You need to keep an eye on the kids while carrying all the gear. We never pack more than we can carry ourselves while the children are in a carrier or seated in a stroller.

FAQ: Bali with Kids – Packing List

What are the absolute essentials to pack for a family trip to Bali or Lombok?

Essentials include passports, credit cards, baby or toddler gear (diapers, sleep sack, carrier), sunscreen, swimwear, and a small first-aid kit. With these items, you can handle most situations, and anything extra can usually be bought locally.

Do I need to bring baby formula or can I buy it in Bali?

Baby formula is available in Bali, including well-known brands like Nestlé, Aptamil, and Friso. We still brought enough from home for the entire trip to be sure we had the right one for our child.

Do I need a stroller in Bali and Lombok?

A lightweight, foldable stroller is handy for airports and malls, but for beaches, streets, and trails, a baby carrier is much easier. We bring both.

Are water shoes necessary?

Yes, they protect little feet from hot sand, sharp shells, slippery surfaces, and rocky beaches.

Are diapers and swim diapers available in Bali?

Regular diapers are widely available in Bali, so you can buy them if needed. For the first few days and travel, bring a small supply from home for peace of mind. Swim diapers are harder to find, so we recommend bringing enough for the entire trip.
