1. Calm beaches — if you know where to go
Let’s be honest — not every beach in Bali is ideal for little ones. Some are known for big waves and strong currents (hello surfers!). But if you know where to go, you’ll find plenty of calmer beaches that are perfect for babies and toddlers.
Best Bali Beaches for Kids
🏖️ Mengiat (Nusa Dua)
🏖️ Padang Padang
🏖️ Blue Lagoon
🏖️ Dreamland
🏖️ Kuta/Seminyak
🏖️ Sanur
Look for:
- Gentle waves and shallow entry (like Sanur, Nusa Dua or Jimbaran)
- Soft sand for playtime
- Easy access to cafés and toilets
Our kids loved splashing in the shallows without being knocked over by waves — and we loved that we didn’t have to stress about sudden drop-offs.

💛 Crew Moment: Our kids especially loved Padang Padang. While it’s popular with surfers, the beach also has a calmer section where toddlers can safely splash around and build sandcastles — plus the monkeys near the entrance were a big hit!

2. Easy food & kid-friendly cafés
Eating out with young kids can be stressful — but in Bali, it really doesn’t have to be. Most cafés are super relaxed, staff are patient with children, and many places even have dedicated play corners or kids’ menus.

You’ll find:
- Plenty of healthy snacks (fruit, smoothies, pancakes, noodles)
- Baby chairs in most touristy areas
- Casual vibes — no one minds a bit of noise or mess
Need something more specific for babies? You can easily bring your own purees or baby food, but many restaurants are happy to adapt dishes — like plain rice, boiled veggies or fruit platters.
💡 Crew Tip: Heading to the Uluwatu area? Don’t miss Ohana — a nice café with a huge playground and relaxed vibes. It’s one of our favorite stops, and also featured in our Top 10 things to do in Bali with kids.

3. Family-friendly places to stay
One of the best things about Bali? You can stay in beautiful places that are actually designed with families in mind — without breaking the bank.

5. The warm Balinese culture
One thing we really appreciated while traveling around Bali with our kids was how child-friendly the culture felt.
Balinese society is very family-oriented, and young children are generally welcomed with smiles and kindness. People often greet little ones, wave, or start a friendly interaction — especially in more local areas.
In many restaurants or homestays, staff might offer a helping hand or show interest in your child, which can make meals or transitions feel a bit easier.
You’ll also come across colourful ceremonies, daily flower offerings, and traditional music — even a simple walk around the neighbourhood can turn into a little cultural adventure.
💛 Crew Moment: We felt comfortable bringing our kids almost everywhere — including temples and small warungs. Just remember to be respectful of local customs, and bring a sarong or scarf when visiting spiritual sites.
