Where to Stay in Phuket with Kids: Best Beach Areas for Families (2026)

The best places to stay in Phuket with kids are Kamala, Kata, and Karon. These areas offer calm beaches, family friendly hotels, easy food options and nearby day trips suitable for babies, toddlers and older kids.

Where should families stay in Phuket with kids?

For most families, Kamala, Kata, and Karon are the best places to stay in Phuket with kids. These areas offer calm beaches, family-friendly hotels, easy dining options, and short travel times that work well when traveling with babies, toddlers, or young children.

In this guide, we focus on the areas that work best for families, based on beach conditions, walkability, hotel options, and overall vibe. Below, you will find quick recommendations if you want to decide fast, followed by a detailed breakdown per area with handpicked family stays.

Our Experience in Kamala with Kids

We researched the beaches carefully before our trip and Kamala felt like the best match for our kids at the time (they were 1 and 3). We visited a few other beaches during our stay and honestly Kamala was exactly what we hoped for. Calm, friendly, soft sand, easy places to eat, and a relaxed vibe that never felt overwhelming.

For a future trip we would definitely consider Kata or Karon too. They looked wonderful and also very family friendly, just a bit more active and lively than Kamala. In the end, all three areas are great for families. It really depends on what you enjoy the most: laid-back, a little more active, or somewhere in between.

Looking for the best family-friendly stays in Phuket? From calm beaches with toddlers to lively areas for older kids, Phuket offers hotels, villas, and resorts that suit every family’s needs.

We personally prefer villas if it fits the budget. Having a kitchen allows us to prepare meals or order in, gives privacy, and kids often get their own bedroom. Resorts are convenient but not our first choice. Every family has different preferences, so choose what works best for you.
